Wouldn't it be amazing to get into the college of your dreams without having to do all those rigorous work that consist of all day studying and pulling all-nighters to finish an essay or project? Doing easy work and still be able to get into a UC or CSU? Most high school students who dreamed of going to a good college would be delighted to keep everything easy and relaxing, but do you honestly think any college will accept you if you're not willing to work harder than usual or much harder? Colleges are getting much stricter with their students. If you're not working as hard as they want you to work, you're not worthy of being in that school.
Colleges nowadays are looking for hard working students who will represent their schools and not someone who will bring down its name. If a high school student, prefferably a high school senior, wants to get into colleges such as UC Irvine, UC Davis, or Stanford that student needs to work twice as hard or maybe even more. You are not going to be accepted into any colleges if you demand easy work. Your senior year will prepare you for the many challenges and obstacles you may face when you get into a prestigious university. This year will also be the year you set your goals for the future and decide what you want to do for the rest of your life.
If you are an aspiring lawyer, do you think Harvard University will accept you into their school when they find out that you didn't even make grades your senior year? Do you think Stanford will allow you to attend their school if they find out that you can't handle even the easiest work assigned to you? You need and have to work hard to achieve your goals. There is no easy way out in the real world. You have to bust your behind everyday just so you can do what it is that you want to do with your life. You have to think about the positive outcomes of all your hardwork. In the end, it'll all be worth it and it'll pay off once you're in the college of your dreams and you are doing what you love doing.
In some cases, high school seniors get scholarships, but that doesn't mean colleges can't take it away from you. You can't just rely on those scholarships. You still have to work, work, work. It's all about working. You may think you're just wasting your time and you're not even planning on going to a UC or CSU. Even so, you need to try and work harder. Just because you're not going to a prestigious colleges doesn't mean you can slack off. Working hard doesn't just apply to getting into a good school, it applies to everything you do in your life.
Overall, I say that I agree with colleges being strict on students who allow their grades to fall. The opportunity to attend the most prestigious school in the country is not just an honor, but a priviledge. Students who take things too easy will not make it in the real world and will have a hard time managing their time. Every student, not just high school seniors should remember that hard work pays off. Your luck may not come as soon as you expected, but they will if you keep persevering.
